Beat Anaphylaxis

Beat Anaphylaxis is a resource-filled website, created by a range of healthcare professionals in the North East to help improve clinical care of anaphylaxis, and support patients and their families.

Anaphylaxis is a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.

Around 40% of us have at least one allergy; for most people, reactions are mild, such as an itchy rash.

A small proportion of people develop anaphylaxis, which is when their immune system reacts very strongly to certain things leading to significant inflammation and swelling, and problems breathing.

In children and young people, this can be triggered by food – peanuts, milk, eggs, shellfish or fruits like kiwi, and others.

Other causes included bee or wasp stings, latex, or medicines like penicillin.

The website has a wealth of resources specifically created for different groups – young people, families and children, schools and health care professionals.

If you or a young person you care for has known allergies, then bookmark the Beat Anaphylaxis website today.
