🥸 Movember 2025: Take Action for Men’s Health
Movember is here!
Now’s the time to take real steps for men’s health — starting conversations, getting checked, and supporting others.
Why Movember Exists
Men are dying too young — often from preventable causes.
- Around 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer.
- Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men.
- Three out of four suicides in the UK are by men.
Movember aims to reduce those numbers by helping men take action earlier and talk more openly about their health.
1. Talk About Mental Health
It’s okay to not be okay — and it’s okay to talk about it.
Many men struggle in silence because they don’t want to seem weak or be a burden. But talking helps. You don’t need the perfect words — just ask, “How are you really doing?”
Start small:
- Check in with a friend or colleague.
- Listen without judgement.
- Suggest simple next steps — like seeing a GP, calling a helpline, or talking again soon.
If you or someone you know needs help:
- NHS 111: 111
- Shout Crisis text line: 85258
- Samaritans: 116 123 (24/7)
- Mind: 0300 123 3393
- CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably): 0800 58 58 58
Talking can save lives. One honest chat might change someone’s tomorrow.
2. Check Your Testicles
Testicular cancer can happen at any age but is most common in men aged 15–49. It’s very treatable when found early.
What to do:
- Check once a month, after a warm shower.
- Roll each testicle gently between your fingers.
- Look for lumps, swelling, or changes in size or shape.
If you notice anything unusual, book an appointment with your GP — don’t wait.
Most lumps aren’t cancer, but it’s always worth checking.
3. Know Your Prostate Cancer Risk
Prostate cancer often has no early symptoms — that’s why knowing your risk is so important.
You’re at higher risk if:
- You’re over 50, or over 45 with a family history.
- You’re Black, as the risk is higher and tends to start earlier.
If you fall into these groups, talk to your GP about whether a PSA blood test is right for you.
Knowing your risk helps you stay ahead of the disease.
4. Move for Mental Health
Move for the 60 men lost to suicide every hour across the world. Walk, run, cycle, or swim 60 km during November to honour them — and boost your own mental health at the same time.
Even a short walk can help reduce stress, lift your mood, and keep your heart healthy.
You can track your progress or fundraise at uk.movember.com
5. Get Involved Your Way
You don’t have to grow a moustache to make a difference.
- Grow a Mo: Start conversations everywhere you go.
- Host a Mo-ment: Bring your mates together for a cuppa, quiz, or fundraiser.
- Mo Your Own Way: Take on any challenge to raise awareness.
However you take part, your actions support life-saving projects for men’s health.
Let’s Change the Face of Men’s Health
Movember is more than a campaign — it’s a movement for change. Every chat, every check, every kilometre counts.
This November, look out for yourself and the men around you. Together, we can help men live happier, healthier, longer lives.
