Millions more invited to get Autumn Covid Booster

From the morning of Friday 14th October, millions more people will be offered the extra protection of an Autumn Covid Booster vaccination.

Anyone aged 50 or over can book their jab online or by calling 119.

More than 7 million people have received their boosters since the campaign launched a month ago.

Now a further 12 million people are being encouraged to help protect themselves and the NHS ahead of winter.

Book Online or through 119

Please remember that our GP practices are not administering covid vaccinations.

Jabs can be booked online or by calling 119 if you need help.

We ask patients to please not call GP practices about covid vaccinations, as the additional calls make it difficult for other patients to get through.

‘Twindemic’

NHS leaders have warned of a ‘twindemic’ of covid and flu cases this winter, which could put immense strain on the NHS.

“If you are between 50 and 64, then please do not hesitate to log on and book yourself an appointment; it is the best way to protect yourself from serious illness this winter”

Steve Russell, NHS Director for Vaccinations and Screening

Flu jab online booking trial

To help counter the risk of a ‘twindemic’, a scheme is being piloted to allow some people to book a flu jab via the same online system as covid jabs.

Some test sites will offer covid and flu jabs simultaneously, but in other cases, it may be necessary to book two appointments.

Please remember this is a pilot scheme, and not everyone will be given the option to book a flu vaccine at the same time as their covid vaccine.

If you are not given this option, don’t worry, you will be contacted by your GP practice when you can get your flu shot. Around 33 million people are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccine this year, beginning with the most clinically vulnerable.
